Silverleaf Nightshade: Our Regions Pest
ABOUT
Silverleaf nightshade, or Solanum elaeagnifolium, is currently one of the worst weeds in the Griffith region. It is a weed of national significance. The best time to manage this weed is in April, when it is dying, and again in November, when the new flowers are starting to bloom. Kevin De Lucchi, a farmer at Lake Wyangan, sprays the weeds with herbicide three times a year as well as planting dense grasses and lucerne to out-compete the Silverleaf nightshade.
